The Legacy of Ryan White: A Special Talk by Jeanne White-Ginder

Ryan White and his mother, Jeanne

Jeanne White-Ginder, mother of Hoosier HIV/AIDS advocate Ryan White, spoke at IUPUI on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007. She shared a mother's experience in the early days of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the United States.

Ms. White Ginder told of watching her son live with and die from HIV/AIDS. Her lecture included the family's experience--that of Ryan's sister Andrea, for example--with the difficulties of pediatric HIV/AIDS at that time, with international publicity, and with the loss of Ryan on April 8th, 1990.

Online video of this event available soon.
